Does this mean there is only one type of activated carbon?\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/h4>\n\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-1421\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"1\" role=\"region\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-1421\"><p><strong>1\/ In fact, there are hundreds of varieties of activated carbon, each with a specific function adapted to its use. Some activated carbons are developed to adsorb and then desorb, for example to recover valuable solvents or metals like gold.<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>Others are used as molecular sieves, such as in chromatographic columns. Other types of activated carbon are used to never desorb, as is the case with gas masks, mainly military, and our filters. You will understand that if this capture function is not controlled, a gas mask that desorbs would immediately kill the user! Today it has an applied research laboratory, equipped with all the investigative tools, both in terms of equipment and specialized staff. These specialists are responsible, among other things, for determining the activated carbon applied to the specific use of our Flex type filtration hoods and our GFH type fume cupboards.<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>Erlab does not source standard activated carbon. It has developed a carbon specifically applied to our filtration hoods. Specialized partners manufacture a carbon that is as versatile as possible in terms of capturing molecules, according to our specifications.<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>This specification defines a whole set of quality criteria which are then meticulously controlled during production by our refiner and upon arrival at our factories by our laboratory, according to international ASTM standards and performance standards AFNOR NF X 15 211 and BSA. This experience in the field of filtration allows us to offer 4 types of filters that meet a very wide variety of laboratory applications. The quality of our carbons precisely allows us to cover these applications without multiplying the references. We thus guarantee great application versatility for our filters. As for mercury filtration, our filters are capable of adsorbing it. However, technologies that allow the detection of mercury in the air are extremely expensive and not widely used in laboratories. These standards respectively govern particle size distribution, ash content, moisture content, and finally butane adsorption capacity of activated carbon.
